January 2017 Reminder: Important Change to USC Email Services


Per the email sent out from CIO, Douglas Shook, on October 27, 2016, the University will be implementing a new policy covering email retention, forwarding and business use.


This policy will do two things, 1) dictate how long email can be stored in your default email folders (e.g., Inbox, Sent Items, and Deleted Items) and 2) minimize what messages you are allowed to automatically forward and share outside of the USC community. 


To ensure you do not lose valuable email and data and meet the forwarding limitations, every USC Annenberg faculty and staff are required to respond to this policy by the following deadlines:


  • Wednesday, January 18, 2017All staff
  • Wednesday, March 15, 2017:   All faculty
  • Wednesday, March 15, 2017:   Automatic forwarding of USC email to external domains will be disabled for everyone


We encourage everyone to read the October 27 email and the policy. To help with this transition we will be contacting staff in November and December and faculty in January and February to assist with understanding and implementing these new requirements
