Technology Requirements

We require that all students enrolled in an Annenberg class bring their own laptop device to campus. Below you will find our requirements and recommendations for your laptop, wireless connectivity and software. We work with USC Information Technology Services (ITS) to make sure you have access to the internet, and have the tools you need to be a successful student.

Laptop:

Below you will find our required and recommended laptop specifications. Students may choose to bring a PC or Apple laptop. Refer to your course syllabi for any additional technology requirements.

Recommended: Intel Core i7 or greater

Required: 64 bit Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10

Required: 12 inch screen

Recommended: 14-16 inch screen

Required: 256GB solid state drive

Recommended: 512 GB or greater, or 500GB hard drive (7200 RPM)

Required: Adobe-certified GPU with 1GB of VRAM

Wireless connection:

USC’s Secure Wireless network is encrypted and up to 18 times faster than USC Guest Wireless.  You can connect to the USC Secure Wireless network entering your USC NetID (username) and password when prompted. USC also has Wireless Access for Visitors, an open and unencrypted network that does not require USC NetID for login.

Software:
